A Mediating Effect of Self-Esteem on the Influence of Elderly Care Workers` Emotional Intelligence on the Quality of Care Service

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors of care workers on the quality of care services of caregivers who are directly responsible for care, and to provide basic data on training and empowerment to improve the quality of care services for care workers. This study analyzes the data of 258 care workers who have worked for more than 6 months in elderly care centers located in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. According to the results of this analysis, emotional intelligence has a statistically significant effect on the quality of care services. The emotional intelligence showed significant influence on self-esteem, and self-esteem has a statistically significant effect on the quality of care services. The mediating effect of self-esteem was statistically significant in relation to emotional intelligence of care workers and the quality of care services.
